What Is Pycnogenol®?
Pycnogenol® is a unique natural plant extract made from the bark of the Maritime Pine tree growing on the sandy coast of France, south of Bordeaux. Pycnogenol&174; is the registered trademark of Horphag Research's pine bark extract and contains a composite of approximately 40 natural ingredients, including proanthocyanidins, organic acids and other biologically active components. Decades of laboratory research and clinical studies show that Pycnogenol® has potent antioxidant properties that protect against free-radicals.
Why Should I Take It?
Because it helps keep you healthy. Every day, free-radicals cause damage to your cells and tissues. This leads to degenerative health conditions, which are associated with the acceleration of the normal aging process. Antioxidants such as Pycnogenol&174; help fight free-radicals and keep your cells and tissues healthy.
How Does It Work?
It's quite simple, really. Antioxidants fight oxidants. Oxidants, if left unchecked, can break down your cells and tissues and unleash a whole rash of health concerns. When your body is healthy, you are better able to fight off illness, recover from injury and put off the symptons of aging. Pycnogenol&174; is a potent free-radical fighter that has been shown to be many times more powerful than vitamin C or vitamin E. It has the added value of working synergistically with many essential nutrients.
What EXACTLY Does Pycnogenol® Do?
Years of scientific studies have demonstrated that Pycnogenol® is a powerful antioxidant, and a U.S. patent has been awarded to that effect. It has also been found that, among other health benefits, Pycnogenol® strengthens capillaries, arteries and veins; improves circulation and skin smoothness; fights inflammation; and improves joint flexibility. Pycnogenol® also readily binds to collagen fibers, thus improving the elasticity and integrity of connective tissues.
Based on scientific research, the following statements have been sent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, indicating some of the benefits of Pycnogenol® in the body:
Who Uses Pycnogenol®?
Millions of people. In Finland, Pycnogenol® has become a national favorite. In the United States, athletes have told us that Pycnogenol® hastens the body's recovery time. One man ran three marathons in eight days and thanks Pycnogenol® for his success. Others use Pycnogenol® to promote healthy skin and to support the body's health during the aging process.
Is It Safe?
Yes. In fact, Pycnogenol® is one of the best-tested products of its kind. Pycnogenol® imitators do not carry the registered trademark and they do not carry the confidence earned through decades of laboratory research and clinical study. Test after test confirms its purity and safety. Pycnogenol® is non-toxic, non-mutagenic and non-carcinogenic.
What Makes Pycnogenol® Different From Other Antioxidants?
Pycnogenol® is all natural and wonderfully bioavailable. It is rapidly absorbed in the body. Pycnogenol® is also extremely potent. It contains a special class of bioflavonoids known as proanthocyanidins. Pycnogenol® also contains water-soluble organic acids, organic acid glucosides and glucose esters, as well as other highly useful biologically active components. Pycnogenol® is the only natural product containing this specific combination of ingredients, which contribute to its unique and highly beneficial activity in the human body.
Do Other Products Do the Same Thing?
No. There are other products on the market claiming to offer the benefits of Pycnogenol®. Some have even tried to use our name. Illegally, we might add, because Pycnogenol® is a registered trademark and is protected by a U.S. patent. Authentic Pycnogenol® is made from the bark of the Maritime Pine on the coast of France. Only Pycnogenol® has been through decades of study to assure that it is safe and free of side-effects. Only Pycnogenol® is the real thing.
Do I Really Need Pycnogenol®?
Yes. To get all the nutrients you need to fight free-radicals, you should eat at least five servings a day of antioxidant carrying fruits, vegetables and nuts. But even then, you might not get enough. Foods lose their antioxidant powers when they are processed and cooked. Stress, air pollution, cigarette smoke and chemicals can cause your body to produce even more free-radicals. Pycnogenol® is one of the most useful dietary supplements available. No wonder it's an important parr of so many healthy diets.
How Much Should I Take?
It depends on your weight. The most effective dosage is about 1.5 milligrams for 1 pound of body weight. So a 150-pound person would take between 150 to 225 milligrams per day.
